What do you enjoy most about your role?
What continues to inspire me is the difference that good support can make to a person's life. I enjoy seeing people gain confidence, develop independence and achieve goals that are meaningful to them, no matter how big or small.I am passionate about creating services that place people at the centre of everything we do, while also supporting staff to develop, grow and feel proud of the work they do. Seeing positive outcomes for the people we support, their families and our teams is what makes this role so rewarding.
What matters most in good support?
For me, good support starts with listening. It means understanding what matters to the individual, respecting their choices and recognising their potential.The best support is built on kindness, trust, consistency and genuine relationships. It should empower people to make decisions, take opportunities and live as independently as possible, while knowing they have the right support around them when they need it.
Every person deserves to feel valued, included and in control of their own life, and that is what good support should always strive to achieve.
Bio:
Jane began her career as a Registered Nurse, working as a Senior Staff Nurse in an acute NHS hospital for ten years before moving into social care, where she has worked for more than 22 years. During that time, she has supported the development and delivery of services for adults with a wide range of complex needs.
As Managing Director of Independent Lifestyles, Jane is passionate about creating person-centred services that help people build confidence, develop independence and achieve meaningful outcomes. She believes that good support starts with listening, understanding the individual and always focusing on what matters most to them.
