
Independent Lifestyles is thrilled to announce that Ruth, Operations Manager, was a finalist in the National Learning Disability Awards, swooping a much coveted finalist position in the category, Making a Difference Award. We are so proud of you, Ruth!
Attending the awards gala dinner in Birmingham in June 2026, Ruth (centre in photo) was joined by Adele, Area Manager, and Sally, Strategic Manager. Ruth said of the awards celebration, “What a spectacular evening! It was so exciting to be part of this prestigious awards event and an honour to be chosen as a national finalist in the category of Making a Difference. There were so many inspiring stories from other finalists and award winners.” Hosting the night was the celebrity, Peter Andre.
The National Learning Disabilities Awards panel cites its judging criteria for The Making a Difference Award on the following tough benchmarks:
We are looking for the provider or person, who has promoted inclusion and community cohesion through their work or role in the community – particularly where this has helped make a positive change happen in people’s lives. This person or team may have a learning disability or be working in the field of learning disability. We are looking for an outstanding person who works creatively and passionately to ensure people with a learning disability have equal access and involvement in their community.
