Name: Adele
Role: Area Manager
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I like to a build strong, supportive relationships with managers and teams while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. I focus on person-centred care, staff development, and continuous improvement to achieve positive outcomes for the people we support. What matters most in good support?
Good support is not just about completing tasks — it is about helping people live the life they choose. The essentials are to respect their choices, routines, culture, and goals. Support independence rather than doing everything for them and involve them in decisions about their own life.
Bio:
Adele has worked with Independent Lifestyles for the past nine years, starting as a bank support worker in our Lancing service. Prior to joining ILS, she gained experience across a variety of care settings, including supporting older adults, children with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) and Autism, as well as adults with behaviours that challenge.
Adele also undertook nursing training at Brighton University, where she completed placements in a range of healthcare settings, including adult general wards and day surgery units. Through these experiences, Adele developed valuable clinical knowledge and practical skills. However, she realised that a nursing career was not the right path for her, and she found her passion in providing person-centred support within social care.
Adele's diverse background has given her a broad understanding of the needs of different individuals and has helped shape her approach to delivering high-quality, compassionate support.
